A saffron latte is a variation of the traditional latte that combines the rich, bold flavor of coffee with the unique, subtle taste of saffron. Saffron, also known as "red gold," is a spice derived from the stigmas of crocus flowers and is known for its distinctive aroma and flavor. It is one of the most expensive spices in the world due to the labor-intensive process of hand-picking the stigmas. In a saffron latte, the saffron threads are infused into the milk, which gives the latte a unique, aromatic flavor and a beautiful golden color. Some recipes also call for a pinch of ground cardamom, which complements the saffron and adds a subtle, spicy kick to the latte. Saffron lattes are typically made with whole milk, as its fat content helps to bring out the flavor of the saffron and create a creamy, frothy texture. However, it can also be made with other types of milk such as almond milk, oat milk, soy milk and more. Saffron lattes are a great choice for those who enjoy the taste of coffee but are looking for something a little different.
