We prioritize transparency in our sourcing practices, allowing customers to trace each thread of saffron back to its origin in Herat Afghanistan. As a farmers cooperative based in Herat Afghanistan, Heray Spice is dedicated to uplifting the Afghan farming community. We work directly with local farmers in Herat. We ensure fair compensation for our farmers and support sustainable agricultural practices that benefit both the community and the environment.

Heray Spice is led by a dedicated group of Afghan immigrants who served as local interpreters for the US Army and US Marines between 2010 and 2014. Drawing from our experience, we established the company to support farmers in Afghanistan and provide customers with the highest quality saffron.

To make sure we have the best saffron, we bring farmers together to train them on food safety, standard packaging, and safe processing of saffron. By importing artisanal Afghanistan saffron, Heray Spice is employing 30 local family farmers in Herat. We source our beautiful spices directly from them, and empowering their community with fair-trade principles.
