Henna for Eid
Mar 31, 2023
History of Eid: The word "Eid" comes from Arabic, and it means "festival" or "holiday". In Islamic culture, there are two major Eids celebrated throughout the world, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, both of which have significant religious and cultural importance. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated at the end of the holy month of Ramadan and marks the breaking of the fast. It is a three-day celebration that begins with special prayers and is marked by feasting and visiting friends and family. Eid al-Adha is celebrated on the 10th day of the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah and commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) as an act of obedience to God. It is a four-day celebration that involves the sacrifice of an animal, usually a goat or sheep, and the distribution of meat to the poor and needy.
